Thundershowers and strong winds to lash Qatar today and tomorrow
The wet and wintry climate in Qatar looks set to get extended, with the country’s metrological department predicting heavy rains and winds today and tomorrow.
There will be thunderstorms, windy conditions and high seas in offshore areas, reported Gulf Times.
The wind speed is expected to go up to 25 knots in both inshore and offshore areas during thundershowers, with the sea level rising to at least eight feet.
The met department, in a tweet on its official channel, said that light rain had been observed in the southern areas and the cloud cover was expected to increase over the next few hours. Besides, the intensity of rain would also increase on Thursday, it observed.

This year, Qatar had seen the coldest February since 1962, according to the weather bureau. The temperature average for the month was 2 to 3 degrees lower than the usual average for the month.
The Peninsula reported that the maximum temperatures today will vary between 18 and 20 degrees C across the country. The minimum temperature today is likely to be a few degrees higher than in the last few days.
Doha will see temperatures ranging between 20 and 17C, while in Messaieed and Al Wakrah, the maximum temperature would be 19 and minimum 14C. Al Khor will see temperatures between 20 and 14C while in Ruwais, it will be in the 18 and 16C range.
Dukhan is expected to see temperatures between 19 and 15C and Abu Samrah between 20 and 14C.
