Qatar has gone above and beyond to support Lebanon since the deadly Beirut Port Explosion on August 4, 2020.

Part of the country’s immediate response saw the mobilization of efforts to send a search and rescue team to the Lebanese capital in addition to providing two fully-equipped field hospitals to treat those affected and injured in the devastating incident.

Through several donation initiatives, over 94 million were raised in the country in the initial days of the humanitarian crisis.

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), had launched its ‘Heart for Lebanon’ campaign, aiming to provide relief, medical and food aid, emergency shelter, among other forms of humanitarian aid to support at least 300,000 affected people.

Now, QRCS has sent the third shipment of aid to Lebanon. This batch contained 50 tonnes of food items, to benefit as many as 1,050 families or 5,250 persons.

Additionally, some 100 beds were delivered to hospitals near the explosion site to help them continue providing medical services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lebanese Red Cross, which is QRCS’ mission in Lebanon, helped clear and deliver the shipment to its warehouses that will be distributed among the affectees and hospitals.

Last year, in addition to sending two shipments of humanitarian aid, QRCS also led field relief efforts as a QRCS delegation helped give out aid to the Lebanese people impacted by the catastrophe.

Representatives of QRCS and the Lebanese Red Cross also joined hand to repair homes damaged in the Beirut Port Explosion.
