Qatar Airways becomes the official airline sponsor of the Global Surgical and Medical Support Group (GSMSG)
Qatar Airways has become the Official Airline Sponsor of the Global Surgical and Medical Support Group (GSMSG) to support its efforts in providing medical relief to vulnerable communities around the world.
The GSMSG is a charitable non-profit organization that represents over 1,200 medical professionals who dedicate time to offer top-tier services in austere settings overseas and serve populations in need.
Qatar Airways will fly medical volunteers on duty to several international destinations as the official airline partner of GSMSG.
Qatar Airways’ global network will support the organization to expand its reach further to provide medical and surgical care, training of physicians and medical staff, as well as respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said, “Qatar Airways strongly believes in giving back to the global community and making a difference. As an airline that connects communities and people worldwide, we are delighted to support GSMSG’s highly commendable initiative and through our robust international network help the medical teams reach more people around the world.”

As a gesture of appreciation in November 2020, we gave away 100,000 free tickets to frontline healthcare professionals to say thank you for their heroic work looking after people and saving thousands of lives during the current COVID-19 pandemic.”
Qatar Airways has been recently acknowledged for its performance during the global pandemic as the best airline in the world by eDreams, one of Europe’s largest online travel agents.
The airline recently became the first global airline in the world to achieve the prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by the international air transport rating organization, Skytrax.
Additionally, the airline also announced that it will soon become the first global airline to offer passengers 100 percent zero-touch technology for its award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system across the A350 fleet.
