Police gets involved in school fight
A fight among students of a secondary Independent School forced the management of the institution to call in the police.
The cops took 17 students of Al Mana Secondary School to the police station of the area, Al Rayan, local Arabic daily Al Raya reported yesterday.
Three of the students were taken in remand and sent to the juvenile centre, while the remaining were made to spend the night at the police station.
Some parents were furious with the school management for calling in the police and said they could have contained the fight by themselves.
"Involving the police in a fight among students is trying to spoil their future," the daily quoted a parent as saying.
Cellphone video footages of the incident that took place recently went viral on the local social media, the daily said. The footages showed a student carrying a cricket bat and using it in the fight.
Other students were shown mouthing abusive language and fighting. There were others shown in the footages who were trying to disperse the fighting students.
