Ooredoo ties up with Google to help let users know when they run out of mobile data
If you have used mobile internet in Qatar, one of the constant gripes may be that you have no way to know how much data is remaining in your plan at that point in time.
While postpaid users can find out via the Ooredoo app or SMS, the options for Hala customers were much more limited.
But things are going to change soon for Hala customers because Ooredoo has tied up with Google to help keep them fully informed about their mobile data balance, reported The Peninsula.
The deal, which was signed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, sees Ooredoo becoming the MENA region’s first telecommunications company to launch a data plan management system.

The service can be accessed by voice with the Google Assistant, enhancing the experiences of millions of customers by making it easier and faster to check and recharge prepaid mobile data.
Qatar’s prepaid Hala customers will now be able to check and top up their mobile data plans from ‘Settings’ on their Android phones or by using voice commands from the Google Assistant, according to Qatar Tribune.
To keep Hala customers fully informed about their mobile data balance, customers will receive an automatic notification when they are about to run out of data.
Supporting widespread take-up, Hala customers who recharge their mobile data plans with Google can receive double data for a limited time during the introductory campaign period.
Bonus data is available until midnight the next day after recharging.
Currently, Hala customers can choose from three different recharge values: QR5, which provides 210 MB of mobile data, QR10, which contains 500 MB of mobile data or QR30, which offers 1 GB of mobile data, all available until midnight.
