Metrash2, the mobile application of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), has been made more accessible to expatriates with the launch of a new version that uses four additional languages — French, Spanish, Urdu and Malayalam.

All MoI e-services offered through Metrash2 will now be available in six languages, including Arabic and English, which are already in use.

Metrash2 offers over 120 e-services through Android and IOS devices where most of these can be accessed and completed electronically, including payment without resorting to any MoI services centres.

The services include those related to residency permit, entry visas, exit permits and return visas and Traffic Department services, among others.

The new version also includes community policing services and improvement on some existing ones. It allows subscribers to enquire about travel ban and locations.

“With the addition of new languages, Metrash2 service can be accessed by a large number of expatriates as the application is now available completely in six languages”, said Brigadier Abdul Rahman Al Maliki, Assistant Director-General, Directorate of Information Systems (GDIS).

“Now there’re more than 241,000 subscribers of Metrash2 and include individuals and company representatives and they’re accessing over 120 services electronically through this app,” he said.

Al Maliki said a large number of transactions have been completed through Metrash2 until now.

For example, 180,000 residence permit renewals, 140,000 vehicle ownership transfers, 25,000 fancy vehicle number transfers, 15,000 renewal and activation of e-gate services and 10,000 driving licence renewals have been completed through Metrash2.

Security services (such as reporting abandoned buildings, law violations, selling prohibited items, damaging facilities, among others), social services (reporting family disputes, behavioural issues, social support, among others), invitations and requests (for awareness lectures, school and company visits, event participation, among others) and other general services (informing on road damage, damage to traffic and service signboards, dangerous intersections, not working signals, among others) are included as part of community policing services.

Al Maliki said new languages will be added to the app as per requirements and hoped the new additions will facilitate easy use of app for the speakers of those languages.

Subscribers can download the app in more than one device and with any services provider in Qatar and a smart ID card is not a condition for Metrash2.

GDIS has set up a 24-hour call centre (2342000) to assist them in case of inquires or technical help.
