Lara, the lioness, gives birth to five cubs in Doha zoo
Lara, the lioness, recently gave birth to five lion cubs at the Doha Zoo, the Public Gardens Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), announced.
All five cubs are in good health and are under expert veterinary care.
The newborn cubs were kept with their mother in a closed room for two months to avoid any disturbance.
They were breastfed for three months and meat was gradually introduced from the third month onwards.
The department has assigned the same caretaker to provide them food as any change in routine could disturb them and cause harm.
The father lion is not allowed to remain with the female and her cubs, to rule out the possibility that he might eat them out of jealousy.
The Doha Zoo, currently under renovation, remains closed to the public.
Dear QLers, what would you name these cubs?
Brit: Lol yes the irony...
Ahmadaslam: The way they write it is funny right? I read recently in the indian news that officials had 'arrested 18 lions to find a dangerous man-eater'... The news also said the 'guilty lion, when caught, would be sentenced to life in a protected enclosure' :-)
The father lion is not allowed to remain with the female LOL
mohdata: The problem is that they grow up to be killers
Feline babies for me are the cutest things in this world...
Photoshop perhaps
why these cubs looks reddish and skinny, even their mother??
Lovely creatures .................. welcome to this world .............
No.. It is scheduled for reopening late 2017
Is Doha zoo open
Yup here goes the naming then....Asin, Angelina, Leonardo da capsicum, Simba & Pocahontas.....:)
Rizks: You ninny.. You can't have lions named after actresses ... Next you'll want to name one Angelina :O(
Congratulations Lara, I am so happy for you !
May God bless the cubs and their mother with good health. The cubs are so cute, one of the cub looks like Asin....:)
Would be nice to know whether they are male or female before assigning names ..
However I suppose one could be called Asad and another named after the Silver medalist Mutaz ...
This is such good news.. We are very happy
