HH The Emir receives original ‘Tamim Al Majd’ portrait from the artist
Ever since the illegal blockade of Qatar began almost two months ago, Qataris and expatriates have been showing their solidarity with HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani by rallying beneath the iconic Tamim Al Majd portrait.
HH The Emir met noted Qatari artist Ahmed Majid Al Ali Al Ma’adid at the Al Bahr Palace yesterday to receive the original painting, reported Gulf Times.
The artwork quickly grew to become a banner for the people of Qatar to stand under against neighbouring Arab blockading nations.
People took to it wholeheartedly, finding unique ways to incorporate the picture into their daily lives. While some institutions covered their walls and glass windows with the mural, others made giant cakes and created a huge mural on the Al Sadd Football Stadium grass pitch.
While the country's telecom providers Ooredoo Qatar and Vodafone Qatar changed their network names to Tamim Al Majd, Qatar Museums introduced a special limited edition pass with the mural for its Culture Pass members.
The artist, whose exhibition of works is currently underway at the W Doha, has also attracted a lot of attention.
Thank you Ahmed, for giving us one of the country’s most recognised artwork to date.
I love Qatar, we support to Qatar, the problems will be solved soon.
