Free charging stations for mobile phones set up for the public

Running low on your mobile power can be very infuriating when you’re out. Especially in today’s world where practically everything is done through a mobile phone, being out of connectivity due to a dead battery is something that we all try to avoid.

As a solution for this, the Doha Municipality has launched the first free mobile charging service around the Doha Corniche yesterday.

The project which was sponsored by a company called P.R Launchers, contains solar charging devices that provide free mobile and handheld charging services for the public.

According to The Peninsula, around 30 charging devices have been planted around the Corniche and many more will be installed in various places very soon.

The Director of Doha Municipality, Mohammed Al-Sayed, stated that The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning is seeking to provide the public with free service to ease their communications with the ministry from everywhere.

He further explained that around 200 similar free mobile charging devices will very soon be planted in all municipalities in the country, in areas like parks, entertainment areas, places for social activities and some markets.

Abdullah Fakhro, the Director of this project added that the charging devices can be used for all types of smart phones, tablets and digital cameras.

He further said the service has an advantage as it saves time, as the devices charge 30-40 percent faster than the ordinary electricity charging system. It also has an electronic system which identifies the suitable voltage for the handset to be charged.

The charging devices function with solar energy in line with the Ministry’s policy to protect the environment and to use clean energy.
