Fire at a construction site in West Bay brought under control

A fire which broke out at a construction site near Meliá Doha Hotel in Westbay was brought under control, according to a Tweet from the Ministry of Interior.

Several fire engines and water tankers were deployed to extinguish the fire and roads around the area were closed to facilitate their movement.

“The fire was brought under control, but it’s still too early to speculate on its causes,” commented one of the Civil Defence personnel engaged in the operations.

The extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.
