Emir leaves Qatar for the first time since the blockade began

In the months that have followed the beginning of the illegal blockade of Qatar, HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has remained in his country, supporting its people and weathering the Crisis with poise and certitude.
Now, more than 100 days since the blockade began, HH the Emir will travel overseas for the first time to meet with Turkey’s President Erdogan. Turkey has remained a key ally of Qatar’s, especially following the precarious proceeding that began on June 5th and resulted in Qatar being isolated from some of its closest neighbors.
Not only did they respond almost immediately and send cargo ships and hundreds of planes stocked with food following the closure of borders, but they also deployed troops to Ankara’s military base in Qatar in a show of solidarity.
While in Turkey, HH the Emir will hold talks on "bilateral ties and regional as well as international developments," according to a statement by the Turkish presidency.
He will visit Berlin following his trip to meet Erdogan, for talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. HH the Emir is also apparently expected to attend the annual UN General Assembly in New York next week.
