Ashghal announces traffic diversion on Huwar Street
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a temporary closure of both directions of traffic on a part of Huwar Street, stretching for 750M between Tilted Roundabout (formerly Slope Roundabout) and Makkah Street.
The closure will commence from tomorrow and will be in operation for one year, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.
Both the northbound and southbound traffic on the closed section of Huwar Street will be diverted to a diversion road that runs parallel to the closed section.
The diversion road will include two lanes in each direction, as shown on the attached map.
Motorists using roads at Education City and Qatar Foundation can access the facility via the existing main access points. Road users heading from Al Diyaa Street to Huwar Street can use Makkah Street to enter the new diversion road.
The speed limit will be reduced to 50kmph along the diversion route to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce.
The closure is required to allow for the construction of key structural units on the planned underpass on Huwar Street, as part of the Dukhan Road East project which includes the construction of a 11km road with four lanes in each direction, as well as upgrading the service roads including multi-level interchanges, and landscaping.
Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the closure. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
Meanwhile, Ashghal has also announced for a traffic diversion on West Industrial Street from RA No. 33 to RA No. 15. Two lanes in each direction will remain open starting from today evening to next six months.
Access roads to local and residential areas will remain open. This temporary diversion is part of the construction works to upgrade Doha’s Industrial Area, which aims to increase the capacity of roads and support the higher traffic Volumes, in addition to providing the Industrial area with a fully integrated infrastructure.
Ashghal urges all road users to abide by posted speed limits and traffic signs to ensure their safety.
