If you are planning to do some major financial transactions, make sure you get it done before Sunday, March 5.

This is because the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced Sunday to be an official holiday for all banks and financial institutions under its supervision, reported The Peninsula.

Meanwhile, Qatar News Agency reported that banks, money exchange outlets, investment and financial companies as well as insurance firms will also be closed to the public on this date.

This is in accordance with the Council of Ministers' Decision No 33 of 2009, which stipulates that the first Sunday of March each year shall be an official holiday for all banks and financial institutions operating under its supervision.

It added that work will resume on Monday, March 6.

The Qatar Central Bank had made the decision way back in 2010.
