Riders prepare for the final Pre-season MotoGP test.
The MotoGP World Championship are set to land in Losail International Circuit, Qatar for the final pre-season test before the 2016 season gets underway at the same venue on the 17th - 20th of March after three days in Sepang and Phillip Island.
By defeating Honda's Marc Marquez to take the lead in the second day of MotoGP's pre-season test, Maverick Viñales displayed an outstanding performance in Phillip Islands.
"I must keep my feet on the ground about Suzuki's MotoGP prospects in 2016, despite setting the fastest time of the Phillip Island test," Maverick said during a recent interview. The Spaniard topped Thursday's second day of running and his 1.29.131s record time was not beaten on Friday, when he was second to Marc Marquez.
Both Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have been conducting back-to-back tests between a lightly updated version of the M1 and a more radical design, including a different chassis created using early data for the new Michelin tyres. Both riders felt that MotoGP™ races will not only be much strict with the new rules, but also more physical and require more finesse from a rider’s wrist.
Yamaha and Aprilia held a private test in Qatar on the 21st and 23rd February. While Yamaha had their test team there, both Stefan Bradl and Alvaro Bautista had their first run on the all-new 2016 Aprilia RS-GP. Details of the bike have so far been a closely guarded secret.
Magneti Marelli remain eager for teams to do a full race run as no rider is yet to complete one without interruption. The final Pre-season test will start at 4pm tomorrow at Losail International Circuit.
