I am a native speaker from Syria and have lived in the US for 5 years and currently have been living in Qatar for 7 years. I have over 10 years teaching experience at all levels, with both native and non-native speakers, i taught 5 years in the States and 6 years in Qatar. One of my main goals is to increase students’ interest and gain confidence in learning the Arabic language. My teaching experience has given me a wide breadth of knowledge and skills, and enthusiasm for teaching. I am always looking for new ways of inspiring my students to achieve.
Basic Arabic I & II
Aims:
This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Arabic learner on his basic level (i.e.: a learner who does not know the language at all). It aims at building speaking, reading, listening and writing skills of Modern Arabic Language.
Course Design:
-The course is divided into two levels: Basic Arabic I & Basic Arabic II.
-Each level is 40 hours, for 4 hrs a week.
-Mainly reading, listening and writing skills will be taught through speaking skill (i.e.: conversation).
The student is supposed to learn to:
- develop speaking skills for social contacts
- read efficiently words, phrases, sentences and very short stories
- write simple words and sentences
- give oral presentations about different topics
- build up basic Arabic vocabulary
The student at the end of the course will be able to:
- develop his/ her solid foundation of basic daily life vocabulary
- become aware of the sentence structure in Arabic language
- read simple short stories
- introduce himself/ herself to others
- manage to use the language in different settings ( market, restaurant, renting a flat, immigration, … etc)
- listen to and understand general conversation
