School places Doha September 2012
Hi - we are currently based in Dubai, and my husband has been offered a job that requires us to relocate to Qatar. It's obviously mid-July and I am having trouble contacting any schools now for my 4 year old daughter, plus I would imagine that the British curriculum schools are vastly over-subscribed.
Some of the schools are saying that they may open waiting lists again in mid-August, but obviously I'm really concerned about the likelihood of her actually getting a place, and trying to work out whether we should go ahead with the move and hope that one school offers her a place in August / September.
Am I being totally unrealistic about this, and is it unlikely that she'll get a place? I am conscious that we may have to turn down this move if I can guarantee her a school place. I am willing to consider an international school if that's a possibility as well. Any advice massively appreciated - she's at a good school in Dubai but there isn't an option to remain here sadly.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice...
Hi, For anyone who is looking for temporary or bridging schooling while on a waiting list, you might like to try Hibernia Learning Centre in Luqta. This centre was previously known as Stepping Stones Tuition Centre. It has an excellent reputation for providing top class tuition for children who for various reasons have not yet been given a place in school. Mrs. Lindy is the Director and the feedback from parents who have used this facility in the past or currently is very good.
The contact numbers are 44176815 (landline) or Mobile numbers 33450341 and 66484813.

Hi, my kids are at Loydence Academy. Maybe worth giving them a call. Small school only one year old. There website is not very good and does not give a very good impression of the school. British teachers, small classes. Good luck.
Okay, good suggestion re Cedars, will look into that. Think I may have found a place at CESK nursery as they have a Reception Class so that may well be the best option for now but will look into all options as I want to make sure she gets in somewhere!
Try Googling them - Cedars Qatar. They are British curriculum with all Brit teachers and small class sizes. My kids went there and were really happy. Worth a try!
if you look on qatar guide on here you can get all the schools data bases, should tell you if there are any places available
Okay I will try both of those, thank you. Surely ONE school will take her?? Otherwise the alternative is to stay in the UK until we find a place but as I also have newborn twins my preference is to be with my husband in Qatar?!
try also al hamad international school or modern english school
Try To inquire newton int'l school maybe there is more slot .Goodluck!
