maids and compund facilities

I would like to hear your opinion. If you live in a compound would you allow your maid or any neighbour's maid to swim and have fun in the Community swimming pool?

but I offer my house to the lady who cleans my house, when I am gone on vacation...so far she's chosen not to come and take advantage of the pool in my back yard.

I would have to say that if a maid is to use the compound pool, then her employer needs to be with her or at least sign her/him in, so that there's an accountability for the number of people in the pool area.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

you are right ALEXA, I was treating my maids as part of my family, but they hearted me... so i understood it does not worth. They are just empoyees to be treated with respect and no more.By the way, maids in the West are so much different from maids you can get from here, no compareson please!(And no matter for the color of skin and nationality of course!)

I think that if they stay with you, then they are part of your family unit and should be given the right to use the facilities. If your maid was white and if you were living in the west, I think that you would not treat them as you do with maids here.My family have always treated our maids as part of our lives and we have their loyalty, love and respect. You should try this as they will appreciate you and maybe come to respect you.

i think you speak like that just because you have no maid, i was like you one year ago, but now after having faced so many troubles from them, i have hearted and left my job, i desagree. I think there in our homes to work and if they want to have fun they can have their day off and go out alone.

anne i really agree with you we have to put our self in their place and to feel for them ?? they are under a lot of stress and need same times to have fun and to be happy

achiwoman - anyone who lives on the compound should be allowed to use the facilities. Those that come just to work there should not.

Why not? They are human too..!Good enough to look after our children but not good enough to be given a little life outside.Do they not deserve to live like us?Would you not put yourself in their position and consider how little enjoyment they have? We have to start treating them with some kindness and give them some consideration.

IF WE ALLOW MAID AT THE POOL WE SHOULD ALLOW ALL COMPOUND WORKERS IN THE POOL TOO, DURING FREE TIME. IT WILL BE A MESS!

I'm intrigued - how do they stop maids using the pool? That's as bad as stopping labourers from entering a mall!

I hate the idea of maids, but the way I see it is that while they are working they shouldn't use the pool, but during their time off then sure, why not. (I'm assuming they don't work 24 hours a day - that would be illegal!)

Of course she looks better in a bathing suit than I do (and I look pretty good.) She's 20 years younger. And good for her!

OK, NOW i GOT YOUR POINT, BUT NOW JUST EXPLAIN THIS BY A LOGIC POINT OF VIEW. WHY A MAID SHOULD'T HAVE FUN AT THE POOL? (I PERSONALLY AGREE WITH MOST OF YOU, BUT I DON'T WANT ANY ONE TO TELL ME I AM RACIST)

Alexa said:

No, they should not.

A. they are there to work.

I wonder, If you are ill treating your maids lately.

If you are taking away their right to have some fun at the pool. Then your maids, must better looking than you, and you are just plain and simply frivolous and jealous lady.

LOL

Hahaha.. swim and fun for maid... are you mad...

Maids are treated as slave here... 'You OWN them' this is word used here to describe maid here....

Surely... very ugly thing I have seen in Qatar-Modern Slavery in this Modern Age!

The question was about just swimming for fun, i dont think theres a mention of kids, because if kids are involved then i agree with Alexa, its a parents jobs to make sure their kids are safe near a pool, it only takes a minute for an accident to occure.

I actually like the Idea of having a maid that is capable of swimming, at least your kiddos are kept under a watchful eye of a strong swimmer. Just remember there is a big difference between a floater and a swimmer. Just do your own evaluation.
