last weekend i had to drop my friend to al-khor..it was at night around some 11 o'clock..after a while i got a sensation to use the toilet, so i went near the alfardan bus stand..i was happy that there is a public toilet there..but when i entered it!.the horrendous condition of the toilet is unspeakable..i dint feel like eating food for 2 days..heh..makes me wonder why dont they put up some paid clean public toilets..i mean i am ready to pay for clean tolets!! Qatar is not a poor country..a fraction of what it spends for multi billion projects will be enough..its the small things like this that count.. cheers :)

You should be grateful there was a toilet at all in that area. Its just another matter that it smelt bad as most of the guys working on this Karwa buses pee outside the toilets instead of peeing into the bowls. You have to see it for yourself to experience the third world habits and attitudes in the centre of Qatar.

That's what I really don't like in using some of the public toilets here. I have to hold my breath til I go out so as much as possible I avoid using them.

Lol Fatimah. I ALWAYS would go to the cinema toilets in City Center, whether or not I was going to see a movie. They were the only ones that could be described as clean-ish! The ones near the food courts were just atrocious and poorly ventilated.

I also sneak in to some of the cleaner cafes in the souq if I need to go rather than use the public ones. They are a disgrace to anyone with a sense of hygiene.

Considering how cheap labor costs are in this country I don't understand why there are attendants there to clean up after the animals that soil them.

The funniest thing is the cleanest toilets are in the most haram areas. Go to any bar in a hotel and you will find the toilets spotless...

I totally agree with you. Precisely why I always avoided eating at the CC food-courts. The toilets in close quarters are in awful condition.

And I also second Fubar, around here, many of the toilets in places frequented by tourists are often in a deplorable state . As it is I have a kinda phobia about using germ infested public WCs, and this just makes me feel far worse!

And as Nomercie said, it's also the duty of each individual to do their.. ermmm..."business" in the right place, clean up and then flush away the evidences!

remember it Rizks. You remember the one at the Red Rose Res't in the souk? Needed ladders to get to it on the roof. Sad day if you ate there and had the "runs".

The original Caravan (between the "B" Ring and the town centre) where they sold only rice downstairs. Upstairs in the Res't the "loo" was straight off the dining room with only a concertina door between the "user" and the diners. Ever tried tried farting without making a noise (virtually impossible) or doing anything else for that matter. I swear the diners stopped talking when anybody went inside the loo.

remember the old airport gents toilet upstairs next to the Caravan outlet. That needed a huge intake of breath before entering it!

I wouldn't worry about the fire risk in city center, civil defence should have closed it for the health risk of the toilets. These were facilities near the kids play and the food court! My dog would have refused to enter such was the state they are in.

Atleast toilets used by men can be kept clean to a large extent if men visiting there stop assuming it is longer than it actually is and stand closer.

nomerci u said it, when my child says she want to go to toilet, the first thing that comes to my mind would be the previous user who 'forgets' to flush.

Errrmm, why can't those USING the public toilets clean up after themselves? A good first step would be to FLUSH the toilet....if nothing else, at least use the dipper...

Really? In the developed world I have seen shopping centers not as modern as Qatar's but have good toliet facilities. Here the mall can look fantastic on the outside and inside great as well, but the bathrooms...... well even a Pathan would think twice before entering....

If you are a realist then you would brush off this matter coz these things happen wherever you go even in developed countries

The strange thing is that toilets in high profile tourist places, like the airport, most malls, corniche & souq waqif, are obscene.

Is this really the message Qatar wants to be sending to the rest of the world?
