Greetings everyone, this is my first post on QL. Hope you all will be kind enough to extend your helpful views on it.

I plan to buy a LCD TV and Im confused between Samsung and Sony. I would like your views on which brand is better in terms of quality, features and after-sales support extended by Techno Blue and Modern Home respectively for Samsung and Sony?

Thank you

Sony has long life products. I bought also sony bravia LCD. it is excellent, even earlier we has sony TV since 14 years, still that TV is working fine.

Sony used to be The Brand for decades and that’s why they are still expensive compare to there competitors (cashing on there reputation) but not any more others like Samsung and LG are coming with the same features and long lasting qualities. After sales warranties etc are also almost same on all the products so go for either one just flip a coin.

Mr. Norms, I see that you strongly suggest Sony. Ok fine I agree that its a strong contender here too. There are no doubts on Sony when it comes to its overall standing. But do you have any information on the quality of post sales support of Sony or Modern Home as the agents of Sony?

lol, Mr-Me, if you are one sided, then whats the point in asking your question in this forum? you dont seem confused at all. I dint recommend samsung because, a first cousin of mine got a Samsung LCD 32" recently, but the picture quality aint like it was displayed in the showroom,, when enquired the sales person told, that the clearity in the LCD at the showroom was a result of high quality DVD used for the reason.

both comes in different resolutions, its your choice how much you are ready to pay for an LCD.

hey... Modern Home's rate for LCD TV of any brand is much higher (expensive) than Carrefour or Lulu selling price.. try to compare it...

My research tells me that LG has good pricing on its products but they're quality and life is not comparable to Sony and Samsung, honestly speaking. So the question is still open for discussions. And if you feel like, lets discuss on the same question of mine in the forums! Thanks

Hey Noms, Samsung; let it be from Korea but Samsung products are very versatile and up to the standards of Sony these days. I mean the finishing and features of a Samsung LCD is better or equivalent to that of a Sony LCD, havent you noticed? Do you have any idea about the life and after sales support of these LCD models?

GodFather.

I would recommend Philips LCD, because they are the only ones giving 3 year warranty.

Welcome Mr-Me..

Actually this depends on the specifications you are opting for in different brand LCDs. the full HD of Samsung will be better than basic Sony... but if you want to choose the one from both with same specifications,,i strongly recommend Sony Bravia..this has amazing picture quality with longer life, thou it will be much more expensive than samsung... also keep in consideration that Sony is Japan made whereas Samsung is Korea !

Iam not much sure about the after sales service, but i have seen the staff at Modern Home more friendly than in Techno Blue.

decision is yours.

all the best. :)
