Colour Exploring Fun Workshop
Date: August 9 -September 1

Venue: Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art

As the summer vacations draw to a close, an exciting new course for kids commences just before they head back to school. Creative art classes will be held from August 9 to September 1 at Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art. Let your children play with colors as they learn about the color theory and color mixing in fun ways.

Art Workshops at Souq Waqif Art Center

Date: August 20

Time: 5:00pm -, 5:00 pm

Venue: Souq Waqif Art Center

The Art Center is teaching many courses throughout August that include figurative sculpture, Sunbuli calligraphy, pottery smoked incense, drawing with pencil.

National Reading Campaign by Qatar Foundation

Date: August 1 – August 31

Time: 1 - 11pm

1pm – 12am on Friday

Venue: Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC)

Started under the Qatar Foundation initiative to inculcate a love of reading in children from a young age, the National Reading Campaign includes storytelling sessions, jigsaw puzzles, and scrabble games, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).

 

 

Beginners Naqsh for men and Women

Dates: For women, August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

For men, August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Venue: Museum of Islamic Art

Discover the fascinating art of calligraphy, Naqsh, which literally means ‘copying’, at the Museum of Islamic Art. The stylized version of this Naqsh, or AlBadeaa was used for transcribing many copies of the Quran. This is the advanced course that extends over 7 sessions throughout August. You have to complete the regular Naqsh course before you start this one.

Local dates festival 2016

Date: July 28 – August 14

Time: 4pm – 10pm

Venue: Souq Waqif

The Ministry of Municipal and Environment, in collaboration with Souq Waqif management, will organize the Local Dates Festival 2016, daily from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It features all kinds of Qatari dates, the most important of which: khalas, Khnezi, Arziz, Barhi, Hilali.

Art workshop, Illustrated Ideas, for ages 6 – 9

Date: August 7 – August 18

Days: Sunday - Thursday

Time: 9am – 1pm

Venue: Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar

The course encourages children to explore their imagination through illustrations. The mentors guide them through artistic processes including pencil, inks, gouache, and watercolors

Creative Discovery for ages 10-15

Date: August 7 – August 18

Days: Sunday to Thursday

Time: 9am – 1pm

Venue: Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar, Room 355

The course extends over two weeks and introduces art through various mediums like painting, drawing, illustrating, and printing. It will include a visit to the museum to explore different art methods.

This two-week course offers an introduction to art and design through using many different art materials. 

Design Intensive for ages 16+

Date: August 7 – August 18

Days: Sunday - Thursday

Time: 9am - 1pm

Venue: Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar

The course will follow through for two weeks with giving an introduction to design principles and teaching about fashion design, graphics, interiors as well as painting and printmaking and art history. Visits to the museum and gallery will give a hands-on experience of learning different forms of art. After the course ends the students will showcase their works in an exhibition for family and friends.

Doha Youth Center Summer Program

Date: August 1 – August 31

Time: 4pm – 7:30pm

Venue: Doha Youth Center

"Entertaining Youth Summer" is being held by Doha Youth Center, in collaboration with Ministry of Culture and Sports, for children from 12 to 16 years of age.

Doha Youth Center, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is organizing its summer program under the title: It targets the age group from 12 to 16 years, and takes place daily throughout the month of August from 4pm – 730pm. The workshops are focused on teaching the folklore dance, Ardah, and etiquette of gathering, popular and social games, trips, fine arts courses along with football tournament and learning taekwondo.

A most smurfstastic day

Date: August 4 – August 10

Venue: Entertainment City at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center

Show times: 03:30 PM | 06:30 PM | 09:00 PM

The Smurfs will be performing live on stage at the Entertainment City for a week of the Qatar Summer Festival. Grab you chance to see the blue, funny creatures entertaining you and your kids this August.

Carnival at Royal Plaza

Date: August 11

Time: 5pm – 7:30pm

Venue: Royal Plaza Doha

Many exciting events are happening at the Royal Plaza Doha. Carnival day on August 11 includes ring a prize game, ping pong toss, bean bag throw, clown show, cartoon characters, balloon shaping.
