Taking prescription medicines to Qatar
By Sukhoi2002 •
I am an Indian and I am taking up work in Doha. I will be travelling next month. I have to take with me lots of medicines for bi-polar syndrome, antacids, pain killers. I will be having medicines with prescription but the quantity will be in hundreds. They are very much required as I can not send them by courier. Will I be ok. I don't want Customs giving me a problem. Please advise and it is highly valuable.
If you need that many medicines to keep you alive and working, it simply means that you are in poor state of health. Why do you want to come to Qatar in such a condition? Life is life is tough here and even the most able-bodied people find it difficult to pull through easily. If the medicines get confiscated by the customs, you may soon find yourself in a tight financial situation buying so many of them here.
As Gene Told, the best thing for you is, check with Qatar Embassy in india, they may guide you properly. as i heard some medicines which is commonly used in india is ban at Qatar even if you bring with proper prescription, So you have enough time and make it clear in India itself,
Or if you cant go embassy in India, just bring very few medicines with you with prescription, then get it from local market as you need.
Sukh, That 's similar to self medication ............ Customs will definitely question you but don't term it to be a problem for you ..........
The best thing for you to do is to check with Qatar Embassy in India about your issue.
Hundreds of medicines may cause issues. Why not bring limited quantity that you need for a few days and then get more medicine from here upon arrival?
