Scam in LuLu Hypermarket D Ring Road

I would like to advise people to be aware of certain misleading pricing of certain items at LuLu Hypermarket D Ring Road. I noticed this a couple of times and it happened to me today as well. The price mentioned where the product is located says one amount and when at the cash counter they charge a different amount.

I came across this situatoin when I purchased Pampers which said it's Original Price is QAR 70.75, there was a sticker in the pack saying Save QAR 7/- and below indicated the discounted amount as QAR 63.75 I didn't notice until I came home that I was charged QAR 70.75 instead of QAR 63.75 On the same day I was mislead for a Ribena Bottle which said in a Huge banner that the price was QAR 14.00 when I went to pay for it the said It's QAR 29.00 and when I complained to the customer service they took me & showed me that the price was written in small letters way below the stack of Ribena Bottles that It's QAR 29.00 They advertise as QAR 14.00 & we end up paying the bigger amount not noticing the difference in our bill.

Today I bought some Cocktail Nuts of Camel Brand which said QAR 10.00 and also near the product in small letters the price tag read QAR 10.00 & when I paid at the cashier it was QAR 14.50 again I complained to the customer service & the filipino supervisor lady took me & showed that the promotion was for the packets where the expiry date is near by. The packet which I had in my hand was exactly the same as the others only the expiry date was newer. These misleading activities take place at LuLu Hyper all the time so I would like to advise all of you to double check your bill with the amount which was advertised.

If it is a promotion item it should have been in a seperate place & not to mention most items found in LuLu Hyper does not have a price tag or does not belong to the price tag mentioned below, so we have to either take it to the price checker or cashier.

Their motto is

" Make hay while sun shine - Birds of same feather always flock together "

If this is not practised, how can they open branches one after another with in a year.

This is greediness, the Consumer Protection should take it seriously and investigate this case as soon as possible.

Thanks for bringing it back, this is not new, it's a long time back bogus promotion..I agree with you, sometimes the sticker says half of its original price, but when you go to cashier counter, still the original price is validated. Findings, the original barcode of the item is still active and counter machine is reading that one...

Thanks for sharing, I thought I was being paranoid, as most of the time we are busy picking up items that are needs and do not realize the difference in pricing till we get home and check the bill. This is not only happening at Lulu, but also at C4, FFC and Meera. I once checked the bill while stuck in traffic after visiting Meera and noticed a big difference and went back. On speaking to the Supervisor, he showed me a separate stack a the regular price and told me that a customer must have exchanged the packs which they cannot control. I felt ashamed as the difference was Qr.2.00 the regular price of the pack is Qr. 12.00 and the special offer is Qr.10.00. It happens at all the Supermarkets / Hyper Markets. We have to be more conscious of what we are picking up, being busy is not an excuse. But we still do it.

Fully agree with you. I stopped going to lulu after many bitter experiance. For me it is a cheap and dirty place now. They dont sell any quality items. No good fruits , no fresh vegitables . There are lot of idiots roaming around useless as staffs. No service from them any time and the cashiers behave bad these days.
