The power of Prayer

Did it ever happen to you when you were over whelmed by stress, then you suddenly felt fine just because you prayed?

I dunno if it is a way of prayer but I only say thank you every day.:) I don't usually ask for anything. I believe that whoever he/she is who's giving me blessings, knows what my heart desires. So far, even if Im not the type of person who always prays and go to church, I'm blessed. Maybe bec.I know how to be thankful for every single thing in my life.

I dunno if you can consider me atheist but i believe that there's an underlying power over there and there's a law.

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of God . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of God hearts find rest. (Quran 13:28)

You should have made it clear in your post what you are saying now...would have saved me a few key strokes earlier and few now.

P.S. (11/12/2011): If you edit your post either state so or leave the original and post the rider comment.

Prayer in Islam, is worship of Allah the Almighty, Praising and Thanking Him, acknowledging His Sovereignty and committing oneself to obey and remember Him at all times. It is the central part of a way of life, which is based on submission to the Owner of all.

The Muslim must seek to remember Allah at all times. He must be mindful that everything he is, everything he does, everything he knows and understands, is due to the Mercy of Allah. In acknowledging this, he remembers the fact that death lies in wait and he does not know when he will depart from this worldly life.

Five times a day, he stands in prayer. Focusing all his thoughts on the Creator. He praises, thanks and acknowledges the Greatness of Allah and seeks His forgiveness. His sins pass before his consciousness and render him humble before the Majesty of the One who owns all things, including the Day of Judgement. He stands, conscious that Allah Sees Him at all times and that in prostration he is the closest to His Maker.

The Muslim realizes that the Angel of death could be behind him at any time, that Jannah (Paradise) lies on his right and the fire of hell is on his left. The truth of his actions and their consequences are unknown to him and as he prayers, his heart is moved by sincere intent to strive harder, work more, study more, forgive more and share more.

He comes out of the state of prayer, feeling renewed; more determined to use what remains of his time in the most beneficial way. An angry shout or unkind word, stops on the same lips that recite the Qu'ran and remembers Allah. Hands reaching forth in greed and hate, retreat to find better solutions. Hasty careless words, dismal thoughts and attitudes disappear beneath the light that shrouds the mind of the one who prays because of their love and fear of Allah.

prayer works with those who believe in it only

i had many incidents in my life where i faced extreme situations ( many of these times i was close to death) but prayers made me survive and calm during these times of stress,

i makes you feel that there is some one close to you and will help you in the best way for you - not necessarily hte best way that you see.

prayer has a magic but if u did it with ur body or ur tongue it will not be more than a physical exercise a poor one too ,

what makes it meaningful is to do it with ur not only heart but with all ur senses ,,i did it i feel that something different happens to me i prayed and said

'' God make my heart submit to u

make my eyes submit to u

make my hand ,,make my leg make me all '

i repeated it in each prayer till i felt a sweetness in my heart and a power in my soul and a push to do every right manner and a mercy in my eyes to all people around me

believe me or not ,,,try and u will know :)

Many many times...my faith in God and practicing my religion, which includes praying and supplication has helped me feel de-stressed and cured more times than I can ever count. I'm a believer in prayers and God's miraculous ways of helping us!

Prayer is the best meditation. Many times I went into something sort of raptures while I was praying and it did work in a way by reducing my tensions/stresses & worldly thoughts.

Prayer heals your mind,.... and not because god extends his heart physically and touches your mind or brain but you find within your self the energy to overcome/breakaway from the mental agony because you are intentionally concentrating on one specific point that hurt/ problem in your mind and the many undiscovered powers of our subconscious mind cures,... but I would like to call this power God's Grace.

"How can we blame 'prayer' for some one else's suicide attempt?"

The same way someone can claim prayer as to the reason for their recovery.

Arien that issue looks more like a suicide attempt than a simple matter of being burnt to death. Surprising that even the neighbours didnt know there was fire in the flat next door.

Could you give me an idea what really happened to this 16 year old? I'm just curious! I've never been to Qatar and I don't have any slightest idea on whats happening there.

Between, I believe you are an atheist!
