hey, i am indian, mfr and exporter of leather men shoes and readymade garments, i wish to visit lebanon for business , how is the situation in lebanon for doing business.
I'm speaking based up on my researches. Loulsy, I am generalizing, but its true, 40% of the people if not less wear labels or brands... it's the fashion capital of Middle East. It's not a bad thing to be classy, my generalization is also based upon my observations. Perhaps, if not the French or Italian fashion, they have their own fashion industries in Lebanon, one of the things industries that are still at top. Hence... too much competition. Ofcourse Loulsy u lived there for years hence u have more knowledge.
No lebanese do not go for labelled stuff.. that is too much generalization.. you are planning to visit lebanon for a business trip.. exactly what?! from ur sentence i dont know whether i understand that you are setting up shop there or planning to go into correspondance with certain companies and shops.
Leather is a must looked for product in lebanon especially if it is genuine and at premium cost.. there was a leather exhibition that was open on yearly basis and was closed recently and the lebanese were sad to see it go.
If you can give me more inofrmation of your plan i can advise you as to whether it will be a fruitfull trip or not.
Lebanon is the last place u would want to go for starting a business in Leather. There's way too much competition in this field specially. Secondly, most of the people prefere to buy labeled stuff. My advise is if u want to go bankrupt, then go to lebanon for this kind of business, but if u want to start something different it might be ok. But why lebanon?, by the way Syria on the other hand is a good place to start up something like what you mentioned.
