Driving in Qatar with India International driving license
Holding International driving license issued in India and on business visit(for three months). Want to drive around in qatar, taking rent a car. I read in blogs that I need to attend 12 classes & give driving test to get temporary driving license. If yes, please help me which is the best & cheap driving school. My office in West Bay and house in Najma. driving school near to these plases will add advantage.
Aso Can i give test with out lessons. I know it is completly different here(I am confident that I could give a test after couple of lessons)
you dont want to take this much of risk ... simply hire a taxi :D

connect- this is no longer allowed in Qatar, as i said before they change the new rules now, check on any driving school then you will be surprise.
You can change u r Indian/GCC Internaational licence to Qatari licenece (Temp) at Madinat Khalifa Traffic dept (New).
If u have Qatari resident/long term visit then u need to have sponsor no objection letter, If u r status is On arrival Visit then no need of sponsor letter. You need following documents.
Status Resident Visa
1. Passport Copy
2. Qatari ID copy
3. Sponsor no objection Letter (For Residents/Long term visit only)
4. International Driving licence
Steps:-
1. Go to typing center opposite to Madinat Khalifa Traffic dept type the documents, They will give u eye testing document.
2. Go to any optician and get u eye test done.
3. Take all the documents and apply it at Traffic dept.
Most important Pray to Allah Subhana wa tala to ease u r work.
Best of luck.......
Msg me for any clarification.
Direct test now is no longer allowed to any driving school, you should take short classes, this was effective a month ago, i know this new rules coz my friend attempt to take the direct but they didn't allow him, all driving school are the same, but most popular here are al kebra, gulf driving, karwa, al rayyan,
If you have your Indian driving license, you can appear for direct test without lessons. It will cost you 50+200. You will have 2 chances in total to clear the test.
For school, I am attending Al Rayah Driving school in Madina Khalifah. They are charging 1950Riyal for 12 days course.
I appeared for direct test, but failed the parking and then got enrolled in school. You better get this short course first and then appear for test. Parking is a bit tricky and one must know the rules to follow on the roads in Qatar. For this, 12 days classes are enough.
Go and check with any car rental companies and all your questions will be answered...
