Do I need a commercial licence and office for online trading?

Hello,

I want to start a trading business online which does not require any workforce or office. I just search for the required items in qatar and deliver to door. Do I need to register a company and buy office space for this kind of business? I tried visiting Ministry of Commerce and Trade but they dont seem to understand my concern.

The amount of profit is not material, you are carrying on a business for profit and acting here in Qatar. You need to be clear on the requirements. I assume you are also operating out of your home, that is also illegal.

Thank you for your replies. I am still unsure what I really need to do and how. I am located in Qatar, buying goods from different suppliers in Qatar (depending on who is offering the lowest price) and then personally delivering within Qatar. No out of country dealing whatsoever. It is a fairly small scale business at this level with less than 1000 QAR profit a month. Any further information from anyone would be much appreciated.

Are you sure Sam? If he is providing the service himself, he is operating a business (the service side) in Qatar. Therefore, he would need a business license no?

If you are in Qatar and advertising online ,buying in Qatar and making delivery personally then you don't need a licence or an office. If you are importing in commercial quantities then you need a Qatari Sponsor, licence and an office.

As I understand it, if you are located in Qatar, providing the service in Qatar and exchanging $$ in Qatar you need the license and office space. If you were located outside Qatar and using a local delivery company, you would not.
