If you have an insurance or Hamad Card for that matter, he could have been treated for free.

I know of a friend who has similar situation, he was operated for free at the heart hospital.

It cost QR 100 for an insurance card. Normally, it is refundable by the company.

If you are supposed to have "free medical" care as apart of your package, you should. Also isnt Hamad Hospital Free?

You could take it up with the office of human rights or take legal action against your company.

What nationality was this employer, it sounds stupid but it really does matter here in Qatar

Sorry to hear about your friend RIP

May your colleague rest in peace.

Sadly, this is all too common in the GCC and many other countries. The Insurance only covers a certain amount.

I don't know the particulars of your friends case, so can't really comment about blame.
