Can somebody tell me why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?
Do you guys burn it as well or its only me.

Burned toast.. (proper) butter- salted- and vegemite. Bliss.
Have you tried toasting frozen San Fransisco sour dough bread on a cold Warsaw morning (-30C outside)? I wish I had a blowtorch instead.
can do that in a couple of months.....still early for that remedy.

Just keep the bread out in sunlight for 2 mins. no need of this toaster machines .....:)
I don't eat bread very often, so I always have a loaf in the freezer so that it lasts. The hotter settings are great for this, just throw the slices into the toaster frozen.
TRY TO DO A LIL' BIT AWAY FROM ELECTRIC TOASTERS ANYWAY MOTHER..I READ THEY DEPLETE MOST FOOD OF SUPPOSED NUTRIENTS AND GIVE FATAL EFFECTS OF CONTINUOUS USE ON FOOD.
black and decker but it really has nothing to do with the brand. just set your toaster's timer to less than a minute. our toaster at home perfectly toasts bread in 20seconds.

have you adjusted the level of heat on the toaster?
I have found toasters over here are not very good (perhaps just the one we own) it only just heats the toast so you put it in again for some colour and it comes out black!
