Does anyone know if it is possible for us to end our tenancy/lease on our apartment. We have a lovely apartment here in Al Sadd that according to my husband we have to stay in for 2 years before we move. Although the apartment is lovely I am not happy here and would like to find some where else. Can anyone tell me if it is possible for us to get out of this as I have no idead about tenancy laws here in Qatar.

it is possible, as per the normal tenancy contract terms & conditions, if you are terminating the contract, the landlord has the rights to take 2 months rent including the refundable deposit..If you find out any of your friend/collegue and introduce the Landlord and swap contractor, u may only need to provide the cleaning of flat it cost around Qrs.1000/- maximum, 1st u talk to them, then u can settled with mutual agreements.take care..

My 2 cents...Check your tenancy agreement and see what the clause regarding termination provides. You may have to forfeit your deposit but thats a small price to pay considering you are not happy there. Talk to your agent about amicable options for terminating the agreement by mutual consent if its one of those rigid agreements. One option may be obtaining another tenant to take over the lease. Good luck!
