Animal rescuers attention

I would appreciate the rescuers of animals to request the authorities concerned to make the pet travelling rules easy so that the low income people those who want to take their pets along with them will not be an additional expenses. If the passenger doesn't have permitted baggage to carry with him and if he/she intend to take his/her pets along the airline should adjust the pets weight on their minimum baggage limit without any additional charge on pets baggage. Due to lengthy procedures etc. most of the people are abandoning their animals. And any low income people need to take their pets along with them the pet baggage charge will be an additional expense for them. If anyone want to rescue an animal they may think twice because most of the rescue center do not have sufficient space. Yesterday we have seen three dogs wandering without water and food under the scorching sun near safari mall. we stopped the vehicle and wanted give some food.when they saw us they run away. all three looks tired and one is aged. do not know from where they gets water to drink or food. Such scene will create mental agony to animal lovers. I was helpless without any option except to leave them behind.Yes ofcourse it was a sleepless night for me thinking of that dogs. I would reqest the dog rescue center atleast to make more space to accomodate these poor animals.

the puppy is happy at their home, and not being sold off to someone else?

We are having a huge problem with a number of people of Arabic decent trying to adopt animals from us, only to sell them on another website to people who use the dogs as bait for pitbull fighting....

I agree if you can look after your animals all year round, then you should not have any

to do with bringing them over... Low income workers don't bring animals with them, they find them here.

People who bring there animals take them back with them. Its those that adopt or find animals here that sometimes cannot take them with due to the high cost of cargo costs and the countries that do allow accompanied baggage (much cheaper) are not the low income worker destinations.

Rosenmorga, as a committee member of the biggest animal rescue organisation in Qatar, I am sorry to say that we are over full, understaffed and have little or NO money to take in more animals than we already have.

Currently, our vet bill is again over QR50,000, our rent and salaries for our workers is due in a little over a week, we need to feed our animals and keep them healthy and safe from diseases with cleaning materials that cost money too, and its summer, which means we have no fund raising events due to heat and lack of people around to enjoy them.

We have a waiting list of animals to come in, but our facilities only accomodate 49 dogs and about 30 cats.... we over 120 dogs and about 55 cats...

Do I need to explain any further?

There will always be strays. fact of life. yes, give them food and water whenecer you can, but you can't adopt every and each one.

yes i agree with you but the workers can go and ask food or water from someone. what about the animals if they go any public place or anyone's villa they may pelted with stones.

Who are you to judge me? No one can give you that power. I will not let you oppress me.

Back to topic. I agree if you can look after your animals all year round, then you should not have any

I was having around 3 local street cats at home. no one was willing to take them hence i took them to india and left my house. they are there enjoying the freedom since 7 years. But this is not the case of all. they can't afford.

Moza you are a QATARI. If you feel sorry for the workers and animals, you could have done some social service for them from your side. We can judge what kind of QATARI you are now.

You can judge a country on how they treat their pets and unfortunately here sometimes that compassion is lacking. If the workers in the industrial area are housed 12 to a room, what hope for the animals?

It is really sad, especially at this time of year, when people leave Doha and some leave their animals behind to fend for themselves.

There are lots of people and rescue centres in Doha, trying to help the animals, but they are all over flowing with too many animals as it is. These rescue centres can only do so much and are dependent on people like you and me ,to donate any food, money or medicines to support them.

A lot of people try to help their own way and one thing you could do, is go back to the area ,see if the dogs are still around and if they are, leave food and water for them.

I agree with you that it is very expensive to take a pet with you when you leave, but this is the criteria of the airlines.

You can go to the government vet and get vaccinations and exit permit for your animal,Without charge, but you must still pay the airline transport and buy a special carrier for your pet.

It would be really great if the airlines did as you said and let you use your excess luggage allowance for your pet, but this will never happen. They would loose a very lucrative business.

Shame!
