Special Needs - Training & Seminar in Doha (Learning Difficulty, Autism)

Hi all, I am a mom of 5 with 3 kids with special needs and have moved here to Doha about 10 months ago. We have had difficulty finding a school & support for our kids with learning differences.

Our kids used to attend the Genesis School of Special Education in Singapore in their early years & the eldest have been successfully integrated into mainstream with support. Over here we cannot find such support for him. He is of the medium functioning in the autism spectrum. The Learning Centre would be an appropriate option for him as the international schools here do not provide support.

We recently just came back from Singapore and have spoken to the principal of Genesis School and she is willing to come to Doha to provide training classes for parents, carers, teachers of children with Learning Difficulties.

My question is would anyone be interested in attending, as we want to see the response and interest so that we can try to arrange for her to come to Doha to conduct the training.

I am not very sure about a few things- do we have to obtain a permission/approval for the training to be conducted here?
I am also looking into where we can conduct the training.
Can we get sponsors?
Anybody with ideas to this please give us your thoughts.

Thanks & Best Regards
Liz

There has been a major campaign for autism awareness in Doha lately, it would be great to hold a function like this for people to get involved. The campaign was launched by The Shafallah Centre for children with special needs. It could be worth getting in touch with them as well....

It is possible to conduct such programs especially in association with organizations that are already in the field of education for children with special needs.

HOPE Qatar (www.hope-qatar.org) a non-profit organization under the aegis of the Embassy of India is actively involved in providing educational opportunities for children with special needs. It is also one of our onjectives to create awareness in society about persons with disabilities and what can be done to enhance their capabilities.

We will be interested to explore the possibilities of a seminar. Please contact me on my e-mail address rajeev/at/hope-qatar.org

Hi Liz,.. I am sorry how it skipped my attention - though tit was posted on 14th. Anyway it propped up again, due to Samers posti.

yes,u need to have permission. I have attended quite few ; one in Movenpoic hotel, one an adjacent hall next o Movenpick.

Sorry to say that such seminars are held in COMMERCIAL VALUE. A parent with connection with a Doctor in his/her home contry invites the Doctor. And they invite all parents charging QR.200 and the money is used for their personal "agenda".

I dont suspect you . Yes, there are chances you may get sponsors also, if you have good connections
