Fighting the podge

Does anyone know about this place which is rumoured to be on Salwa Road, and is supposed to provide all of your meals, calorie controlled like Light n' Easy or whatever?  Sick of being podgy and struggling to fit into my suits.   Not to mention how great it would be to bring a pre-prepared lunch to work every day since there being no lunch spots closeby.

Also has anyone else discovered the Diet Shop yet?  its near Johnny rockets, I think it was made just for me, a restaurant/ cafe where the food is good but everything is healthy.

hee hee hee

me is scraping 159cm, so you are quite tall.if you were an indian film star it would be difficult to pair u up with a taller guy.

In Australia I'm not really considered tall, but in this country I am ;-). I'm 173cm.

i am anxious to see the month end result for you, hope you lose weight easily and more than the target, good motivation. you must be quite tall, if ur ideal weight is around 65kg.

but well done.

exercise is going good for me, need to seriously think about this diet.maybe start saving little each week and spend it next month for this diet.

all the best

wow Lianna!! Are sure they don't put anything in the food! That's a crazy amount of weight...oh so jealous.

Well good job Liana!

well you're right, I was the heaviest i'd ever been at 73kg last week, so the first week you can expect to lose quite a bit of weight. I probably only have about 5 more kilos to go. They ask you to exercise about 3 times a week, for half an hour each time. i walked on the corniche twice, and will probably do the same this week, and maybe a game of tennis.

There's no consultation fee is all included. they have menus there to ensure you're getting the foods you like but i dont think you can pick and choose to have dinners but not the rest of it etc.

even if you do it for one month, thats probably about 5kgs so its worth it for me. better than saving about 500 QR (compared to what i'd spend anyway) and getting more and more chubby here.

well done lianna,

it did occur to me that if you breakdown the fee, it doesnt seem that much, then again it seems lots, very very conflicting.

good for you, that its worked. do u need to lose a lot of weight and what about exercise? usually the initial pounds drop off nicely, the pain starts for those last few pounds you want off.where do you come on that scale, but either ways, i am happy for you.

whats their consultation fee like and do they also provide you with a menu if you dont want to take their 2300qrs food.i am so tempted to try it.

well, I lost 2.5 kilos in the first week. and I lost 7 centimetres off my hips which i thought was alot. no wonder my suits weren't fitting, a few more weeks and some of them should be fine to wear again.

if you break the fee down into weeks, and then meals its not too bad ;-) and the food is soooo good. and think of all the money you'll save on alcohol ha ha ha

Good news, I am tempted, but 2300QR/month seems steep...oh so conflicted :o)

hey there

its been week one of the diet centre diet, and the food is fabulous, so I can happily recommend it. I'm getting weighed tonight to see how i've gone over the past week, and i feel pretty good!

last week i was 72.9 kilos, so hopefully I'll have lost one or two. will keep you posted.

han 19, you have to go west from the Al Saad intersection, turn left at the opera chocolate shop, take the second left, then its down the road on your left with an Apple on the sign outside. call to make an appointment first though, its kind of like a clinic. you'll have a chat with a dietician about your goals, your current diet etc and she'll make your plan for you and they deliver it daily. the food is really really good, much better than i was eating when i was catering for myself. and they include everything, even the fruit, milk, sweet snacks, salads etc.

good luck :-)

well I did it, i joined the "diet centre". its not too bad actually, they deliver all of your food to you every day so its fresh. and its QR 2300 per month which is only slightly more than i would spend on food (including eating out) anyway.

so- wish me luck! funny thing is they weighed me and i am heavier than i've ever been, and also taller at 173cm. how could i have grown in Qatar? i was pretty happy with that until someone said i just expanded in the heat. oh well.

or slim boi? i'll try to hunt it down... might end up calling 180. even better if they deliver, dont have a car at the moment and its horrendous without one. horrendous i say.

just called 180 and their number is 4368820. might see you there! although if you are going there to gain weight i'm guessing your food will be better than mine :-( he he he

Miss Banana :) I'm not sure if it's on Salwa Road but there's something called the Diet Center. After going in and speaking with them about your diet plan (gain, lose, trim) they'll deliver your food in the morning. My sister tried it for a couple of months and she lost weight, so did a few other people I know. I might try it myself to put on some weight as I am under by about 20 lbs.

I thought the students were talking about the Diet Shop? Don't know for sure.

Do you know what the company is called or where abouts on Salwa Road its located?

Liana do double check the pricing as it may not be correct. You will also notice almost everything here is way pricier than back home. Little country + Lots of money = Crazy high prices

By Miss Interpreted• 29 Oct 2006 12:48
Miss Interpreted

yikes that IS pricey. they are about $120 per week in Australia (i.e. QR 1435 per month). will have to think about it. given that I eat out alot at the moment because I dont really cook at home, it might be worth it. thanks :-)

It's a fairly pricey service. I just remember one of my students mentioning it's 2500QAR/month for one person. Although to be honest if it adequately battles the bulge it's probably worth it.
