Customer Service - IKEA

I previously posted on Qatar Living about the poor customer service at LuLu and Carrefour. However, I have to say that my shopping experience at IKEA was just a blessing. When any staff sees you at IKEA, he approaches you asking if he can assist with anything. The cashier was just great, asking if I found everything I needed with a big smile. All I wanna say to Carrefour and LULU management go send your staff to IKEA for few days; maybe they will learn something about customer service…

Which is why I complain about the lack of coins at the cash office as I leave - they always try to give me the coins but I am assertive in stating they should be supplying them to the cashiers. I've now taken down the Consumer Affairs number and am reporting any where they don't give me the correct change.

Sometimes I cant blame these employees especially those with direct interactions with customers. Once I had a chance talking with a cashier in a hypermarket. She was so thankful to me bcoz I agree with her suggestion to take a chocolate for my 50 dirhams change. She explained that some customers especially those with white sotana and those with hairy & dark skin people who loves to eat curry does not accept chocolate as change for 25 & 50 dirhams and they will shout and get angry to them. While I agree that hypermarket management should supply coins to their cashiers but to shout & get mad to the cashier who are just receiving 1k - 1.5k QR over this matter is just plain BS.

a happy at heart employee can be expected to smile to the customers.

Cos the last time I shopped at IKEA, which was like a few months back, their customer service was rather amiss. I did however put it down to teething problems so happy to know that was probably it!

As for Carrefour and Lulu, I've pretty much given up hope on em ever improving!

I think its not being Illiterate, one factor can be they are not happy for what they get. I mean their salary and benefits is very low which they have no choice than to go on and continue till their contract end.

Other thing is, incompetent Managers or supervisors who doesn't know how handle and manage their staff

To be honest, I can care less about thier profit margins. I will let them worry about that. All I care about is when I pay someone money for something, it better be with a big smile...
