Does what it says on the tin.

So, can I buy:

* cans of dandelion and burdock pop
* cans of ginger beer?

Ginger Beer. Nothing comes close to good old Bundaberg. Get your bundy at Carrefour City Centre.

You can get them in long necks. Not the Aussie neckless bottles with their caps backwards. :-(

Hey mojonojo, have you made crumpets in Doha? Or just bread?

I've sometimes made my own bread (albeit just from a packet) and the smell of freshly baked bread... MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm...

I'm also quite a good cook generally (about once every six weeks I cook dinner for about 30-40 people and my meals are almost legendary) but I've never really gotten into the baking thing; Are crumpets easy to make? So they really get the proper holes in them? Do they taste like proper crumpets?

Alexa, crumpets are supposed to be toasted and then smeared with butter and usually served at breakfast-time, they're truly scrumptious.

Ooh, good, I can get crumpets, and maybe some ginger beer. :)

About the dandelion and burdock. What would happen if I put an emergency supply into my luggage, say a couple of cans into my suitcase that was checked-in and flew in the hold? Would they explode in transit or anything? I really wouldn't want to get dandelion and burdock over my clothes not to mention it might spark a security alert. Is it safe to put cans of fizzy pop in luggage? Or would it be allowed in the cabin?

Dandelion and burdock is a traditional British soft drink. Traditionally it is made from fermented dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) and burdock (Arctium lappa) roots, and is naturally fizzy.

It dun't really matter.

Crumpets - Megamart at Landmark, in the chiller near the bottled water. Today they had Mr Kipling cakes in there too.

the same way you would make a drop scone or a scotch pankake - hot flat nonstick griddle + bakers ring & batter.

we used to buy them, but then jump to fantastically obscene price. Used to be in The Mall supermarket ... No idea how much they are now.
