30 Pop-Up Stores Will Make Their Mark in Shop Qatar

30 pop-up stores will showcase their products in five of the malls, which include Lagoona Mall, Ezdan Mall, Landmark Mall, The Gate Mall and Mall of Qatar, that are participating in Qatar’s first ever shopping festival, Shop Qatar. The shopping festival which has been given the title ‘A Brand New Tradition’ will take place between January 7, 2017 and February 7, 2017 and has been organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
QTA’s idea behind these pop-up stores being part of Shop Qatar is to support and encourage local entrepreneurs and give them a platform to highlight their offerings. Most of the pop-up stores are start-up businesses that are based in Qatar, while some of the stores have been in business for over four years and are established names in what they do.

It is believed that participating pop-up stores will include Fanilla Couture with its sweat pants, hoodies, sweaters, kaftans, jalabias, dresses, travel kimonos and passport holders, etc. Fanilla Couture already operates at 51 East stores, the Gate Mall and Hamad International Airport. Its aim is to see westerners wearing apparel that reflects the rich heritage and culture of the Arab world. Artikkan is another pop-up store that will feature in Shop Qatar and specializes in oriental and modern fusion furniture. Another enterprise that will participate is Maryam AlDarwish which features ready-to-wear apparel. Other pop-up stores all set to showcase their talents in the shopping festival are Waad (clothing) which can be seen at the Landmark Mall for four weeks, Sonali Raman (clothing accessories) at the Ezdan Mall for four weeks, the Color Recipe (a consulting enterprise) at the Gate mall for two weeks. Other start-ups included in the Shop Qatar line up are one-of-a-kind and handcrafted products designed and produced by students of the Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar and other Qatari designers.
QTA’s goal is to draw a huge number of locals, expats and tourists to visit the festival which will include discounts, promotions, big prizes along with lots of activities, shows and entertainment, and give local start-ups an opportunity to build their brands so they can be instrumental in diversifying Qatar’s economy.
