In my opinion, it is not only the costs that you have to consider. This is what I had to think about when I was looking at purchasing a vehicle.
1. Availability of spare parts in the local market
2. Quality and reliability of the vehicle
3. After sales service
4. Determine the most popular cars on the road then think about how many of them line up at the shop come service time, add the number of hours or days it will take to service each vehicle until it is your turn.
I was thinking of getting the 4 door Sierra just like what I had back home since I can always get the parts online and have it shipped if it is not available here but it was just too big for me now so I opted for the Pajero. Hope this helps.
Just got my wife a new Kia Sportage. First 10,000 worth of service is free. It came with everything that opens and shuts (except sunroof) and including floor mats, and even had full comp insurance included for 82,500.
Contrast this with 160,000 QAR landcruiser G. 1,000 klm service free, 5,000 klm service 750 QAR and every service thereafter costs. No floor mats, no extras and read the story about the issues when it went in for repair at http://waggingthedog.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/starting-to-cool-off/ (and that was only half the story - the car was returned filthy inside, dust everywhere - had only had a very cursory clean and some wiring not working).
For my money - anything except the Toyota in Qatar would be worth checking out.
