I am purchasing a car and it has a traffic violation fine of QR.500. Could sombody let me know if it is must to settle it by the present owner while transferring it to my name?
Hi buddy..Yeah from what I understood, the fine should be settled first before it can be transferred to your name.. In any case, they do the checking within the system (for the violation) before they could go on the process.. However and please note, make sure to check with the owner if he/she uses it 2 days before you do the transferring.. Unfortunately in my case, I got the car transferred under my name around afternoon.. Unknowingly, the car got violation morning time of that same day.. Of course the police dept checked the violation online but they did found nothing since the violation occurred in the morning.. Now I have to pay 300 QR and be deducted 3 points for the violation I didnt do.. And the good thing is that the previous owner already left the country... Sorry me... Anyways, another lesson to be learn..

Usually the seller has to pay it before transferring the car.. its common sense..
As "Mlungi" said, you can't transfer it until the tickets are paid.
You can not get it transfered on your name until you pay all outstanding dues. Who is to pay the fine, depends on aggrement between seller and buyer.
Yes...or no.....or maybe.... What do you think???
Ofcorse yes!!!!!
