Hefty fine for rash driving

Hefty fine for rash driving

By mohdnoor

The Criminal Court has imposed a fine of QR10,000 on a Gulf national who was convicted of causing injuries to a person in a traffic accident due to rash driving, negligence and failure to remain cautious on the road.

The accused was driving down Al Furousiya Street at 10.30pm when his car collided with a vehicle in front. Two more vehicles were hit in the process before the second car overturned.

The person driving the second car, who suffered serious injuries and would undergo a surgery, has claimed compensation.

The Gulf national admitted that he was driving at a high speed and had caused the accident.

The court decided to impose a fine on him under Article 312 of the Criminal Law.

I remember when Qatar doesn't still have those speed cameras...and Hala Sim Card costs QAR350, and you will need to spend QAR0.5 for exension per day...i see accidents almost everyday...and i remember seeing a Ferrari crushed, with the only thing recognisable was the horse emblem on the wheel... Molten Metal's logic is simple...had he not been on his way, he wouldn't be in an accident...i also remember some unfortunate Nepali road cleaners getting hit by a car with some being left for dead, and being blamed for them being there, hence that happened... you really can't teach stupidity...

@landloverreview...true. but still not enough. we risk our lives driving. These so called stupid drivers don't think about the other person. They only worry about their silly phones msgs while driving or a social site. They are only sorry once they injure or kill someone. Blood money is nothing compared to a life. hope you agree?

Instead of sending the driver to the jail, they should send him to the trauma ward at HMC to see all the people in wheelchairs who have become disabled because of reckless driving. Spend some time in the quadriplegia ward, and then see if you want to drive without your seatbelt on.

Only 10,000?

I appreciate the court Order, however IMPOV it would be better to include an "Emotional

/Psychological Punishment" by not allowing him to drive for few years/months.

I think 10,000 QR is fair enough but if they send the driver for a week in jail would be better

I would like to have some nice photos of the crazy drivers who are chasing me all the time, they chase you too close so if you hit your breaks they will F**k up the back of your car completely and don't forget the flashlights !!

These kind of people should be send straight to specially designed jails.

I have always longed that there should be jails of this kind for the unsafe people. 2 to 3 hours of their daily time in these jails should be on some automobile simulator, practicing safe driving under monitor. The prison term should be based on the level of rash driving. They also should be given oral classes and made to understand the importance of human lives, families and their own lives. They should be given special classes in these jails to be drivers who are human being not animals. They should be tested on these simulators and only the rash drivers who become safe drivers should be sent out of these jails.

If they repeat the offense again their punishment should be more severe 4 to 5 hours per day of safe driving.

Punishments should be for people driving and talking on the phones as well. Mobile network and reception on all the roads should be BLOCKED which includes sms or 3G/4G. If people need to talk, they should park and talk – not the other way!

No person - whatever class he/she is from; whichever family he/she is from; rich or poor; whichever country he/she is from should be exempt from these punishments. I am sure that such punishments will bring down the rash driving all around the world....

As MM said on the other thread: "Criminals often give justification for their acts , but they must recognise that it is no more a forest now .. social values have risen to the higher level . Can't they see the other decent living things around them ?" Hopefully these criminal drivers will learn their lesson after they get punished by the courts for their reckless behavior.

Yes, a round of applause for the guy driving so fast, and so carelessly, that when he hit one car, it hit two other cars and caused one of them to roll over. He hit it so hard that the driver ended up in hospital with serious injuries and had to undergo surgery. What a great man, give him a big clap for being such a wonderful human being. If only there were more drivers on the road like him.
