CAR REPAIR FOR A SMALL DAMAGE
By hanna_montana •
My husband accidentally hit a huge rock when reversing while getting out of the parking in his work. The hit made a scratch on his rear bumper and made the rear bumper face bar bend slightly. What should we do on this matter? Do we still need to report this in the police? This is actually our first time; we don’t have any idea at all. Please help. Thanks!
You will get the police report on the same day as soon as the policemen inspects your car. With this report, you need to go to a garage of your choice.
Some small garages have very good workmanship and charge you a small fee depending on the repair.
Whereas you car dealer will charge you more and is expensive even for minor repairs.
As per the traffic laws in Qatar, the first thing you need to do is to get a police report (no matter whether it is for accidents - big or small), Without this report, the garages or workshops cannot repair your car.
Then you need to make a decision whether you need to claim insurance or not. For minor dent works and painting its always preferred not to claim insurance as they increase your premium next year when you renew and once its insurance claim, the garages or car repair workshops tend to charge more. Some insurance companies charge you the first Qrs 500 or Qrs 1000 as an excess applicable to most comprehensive packages. I am not sure whether this is applicable for the first year if the car is brand new.
When you repair minor damages in some good garages or workshops depending on the bumper dent or damage...it will cost only around Qrs 350 - 400 (+ or-).
The Police will ask you if you are going to claim insurance or not. If you decide to claim your insurance, the insurance report can cost you Qrs 100 and if its only a police report about the minor damage on your car, it will only cost you Qrs 10.
Hope this information helps!
If we are staying in Mansoura, where is the nearest shop/garage? How long will it take the legal process? Thanks for the responses..
Thats right go to the police and tell whole matter.
You have to take a police report to get the bumper repaired. and thats the only solution (legal).
As per Qatar law you should report to police. You can go direct to traffic department with your car. And pay 100reyal then they will inspect and issue report. With this report you can go to any work shop.
