Ukrainian maid visa required

I have finaly got my Res Permit, and my Russia wife and two young children will be coming to Doha in a two weeks, once their Family/dependent visa is ready.

We have a great Nanny that is from the Ukrain that we want to bring with us when my wife comes. I understand that we can not invite the nanny until my wife/kids have a residence permit...BUT WE NEED A NANNY THE VERY FIRST DAY MY WIFE ARRIVES IN DOHA!

I am looking for an agency that can immediatly hire my Ukrainian Nanny. I will then hire the agency to provide nanny services. After a few months, once my wife has her Residence Permit and we can get the proper paperwork in place, we will become a direct sponcer of our nanny, and hire her directy.

Any one know of an agency that can help getting my Ukrainian nanny to Doha? I seem to only be able to find agencies that deal with Asian maids/nannys.

Best of Luck, but as someone sponsored by yourself I don't hold out much hope based on her nationality. Speak to your company, their PRO/Mandoub should be able to advise what the liklihood is, but you and your family will likely be here for 6 weeks before you can start the process.

Don't forget to post once you are sucessful or otherwise.

In my earlier posts i forgot to mention that I think there is often a problem with work visa's for single females under 25 particularly Asian and Eastern Europeons, though I know in the last year or so it has been really hard to get even British and North American Single females Visa's even for Legal and Engineering positions in Major Companies. So even with an agent I think you will struggle if she is under 25 AND from Eastern Europe. One way round might be to legally adopt her and bring her on a family Visa, but even that might not work.

I stand open to correction, but I have heard that you cannot have your second wife in Qatar with you if you are an expat...

If this is true, how do you choose?;-P

Well, I was hoping that there was an agency that could help me...but seems that no one knows a company that handles this.

I guess that I will have to bring my wife and kids, get my wife's RP, and then apply (by myself) for a domestic helper through formal channels.

Any one else have ideas?

Xena is spot on!

The only way to bring her in is to convert to Islam and take her as your second wife :)

as far as I am aware, you are right, and even Qataris cannot hire other nationalities than the ones you have mentioned, unless you have wasta:-)

What medohaqatar said is right, it is difficult to get maid visa if your wife is unemployed, unless ofcourse you have wasta.

That's for Expats at least, don't know if there are different rules for Qatari's, suspect there are as indeed there should be.

Thanks, up until two years ago, wasn't a problem, now you may get a visa if the wife is not working, but it is difficult I have applied 3 times and been refused, and believe me my salary is WELL above the minimum, and I work for a "Q" company. When I contacted agencies I was also given a list of nationalities that I could employ a maid from, this list they told be was definitive, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, India, Phillipines and Indonesia, with a couple of other African Nations I cannot remember, no chinese, no europeans, no south americans. etc.

Let us not generalize - if the husband salary is high and working in a reputable organization, he can get a maid visa even if the wife is not working.

But as for the Nationality, it might be a problem. I would suggest go to www.qatcom.com and look for workforce agencies and ask.

You will get a better answer from them.

You also are unlikely to get approval for any maid unless both you and your wife are in work, so if your wife is coming here as a wife without a job, may be impossible, I know I am in that boat. Don't know of an agency that could help. You and your wife need an RP before you can hire any maid and that includes getting them through an agency particularly if you want them to live in.

I am sorry to tell you, but you won't be able to bring your maid with you.

In Qatar you may only hire someone that isn't of the same nationality as you, and Ukrainian is too close to Russian. Also, unfortunately due to certain individual members from these cultures, I doubt you would get a visa for a single Ukrainian woman, as they don't have very good reputations in Doha, unfortunately.

I know this is a generalisation, apologies for that... one of my best friends is from the Ukraine, but this is the perceived notion brought into the country....
