My experiences at sSouq Najma are somewhat different especially at the second hand furniture and electronics shops. First, the shopkeepers believe the buyer has little knowledge of the price of new items. Their prices are in almost in close proximity with the price of new items especially for electronic items. Second, they will give you a verbal warranty on electronic items for a maximum of 48 hours. For a small difference in costs, many times it is not worthwhile going for such second-hand items. Third, there is always a middleman lurking somewhere nearby who comes in and will try to help you get some "discount" but in reality he is the seller's man. He knows how much of a discount is possible on any item. He gets his commission from the shopkeeper after a sale has taken place.
