While raising rates do have some effect on preventing wastage, conserving energy depends on several factors. First, is person's attitude and upbringing. As children,we were taught not to waste beginning with food on the table. This developed into the habit of not wasting anything at all. As such, we switch off whenever power is not required and do not let taps run uselessly. Second, is the income factor where people have so much money that they just don't care. Third, is the company factor when electricity and water bill are taken care of by the company and since one does not pay, he never cares.

The saving of food, energy and water is a responsibility of each and every resident of this country and not just it's citizens. We must think as humans when it comes to conservation, and not as nations.
