The only people being given a chance so far have been the Syrian regime. The Arab League just ignored this whole situation early on, sending in monitors and convening big summits that resulted in little more than glorious statements.
If you really want to get rid of someone, talkfests aren't going to achieve it.
The US is always told that they "intervene" and "invade" and usually they can't afford it financially. But see what happens when they don't - who else in the world is really willing to step up and help? I don't see India or Pakistan or Egypt or the GCC with all their supposed military might there to help anyone.
