Not unless the corrupt is extremely greedy to siphon off an obscene amount is he finally herded off to jail in the quiet of the night, or if he's well connected and blue blooded too maybe he is merely deported to his homeland. But after a while, like all sins, they fade away from the collective consciousness.

And how does it impact their society? Well, money that could've increased the salaries of employees or given out as bonuses. It certainly is a good motivator.
