i doubt it, because we live in pretty much a free world today and mere decision to apply something deemed suitable to one on another is naturally impossible and hence the riots or protests. but ofcourse i cannot deny that it is not being practiced.
debates will exchange motives of different ideas and extract valuable information. it will create genuine followers of any given idea or policy.
however what is important is respect and tolerance in any debate with equal opportunity to voice the ideas or principles. without it you can call it a mess or immature mud fight thats only spreading more dirt.
