the idea is that you bring your children up to pray so that you don't need to punish them. But if you do, well parents should have their methods of discipling. It's about encouraging good habits, at the same time it's not a good idea to make religion into something which is forced and has negative connotations (although in a lot of cases that's already happened!!)
