I can turn off my hazards before giving the turning signal ... this is what I usually do, and then turn on the hazards on again ....
But again, I am not saying use hazards, but I know that the wavelength & amplitude of Hazard Lights is much more than the ordinary back lights of any car, therefore it can be seen from a much farther distance, specially in low visibility situations !!!
So theoretically hazards are better, but if you can always remember to turn them off before you are signalling for a turn !!! (This is usually what I do when there is too much fog)
