I would take a month's short-let and then look around for a suitable place. Ezdan Hotel & Suites in West Bay, a good part of town, charges a monthly rental of QR 4500 (without kitchen)and QR 8600 (with kitchen facilities) for a 1 bed as shown at http://www.ezdanhotels.com/ShortStay.aspx You may be able to find a better deal if you call the hotels/suite directly. Either way, welcome to Doha and happy house hunting!
PS - Chances are that you have been offered an All-In contract, inclusive of accommodation.
