Re. Dog baskets: they sell them at the vets opposite Villagio http://www.qatarvet.name.qa/ , though they're quite expensive, they also sell reasonably priced ones in the Japanese shop in Hyatt Plaza mall, the shops called 'Daiso' and is through the homes r us entrance and up the escalator.
