this had happened to my sis once she forgot her vanity in a auto rickshaw(three wheeler )in calicut(kerala)... there was one mobile, one proff digi camera (just few days old) , a pearl necklace and few baby stuffs and some money.

she remembered only after the rickshaw left ... her hubby and my hubby went behind .. but couldn't trace .. she tried calling the mobile .. the driver picked up and asked her not to panic and to come and collect at his residence cos he had gone home for lunch after dropping them at our residence.
